Beth and I teach at Rosslyn Academy, a Christian International school, in Nairobi, Kenya. We are returning August 3rd after settling our youngest son in the States after his high school graduation. In addition, we serve on mission as volunteers with a mission organization that partners with churches to share the gospel and train the church. We return to the school in a world that has experienced and is still experiencing COVID-19. The Kenyan government has closed in-person education until January 2021. As a result, Beth (first grade) and David (11th and 12th grade Christian Religious Education) will be adjusting to both synchronous and asynchronous virtual education. In many respects, this is more time consuming due to the amount of preparation and additional feedback that normally takes place within the classroom. In addition, as many international schools, enrollment during this strange time will be lower, affecting our ministry financially as well. We are asking for three things in the month of August as we return to teaching and our ministry there. 1. Pray- We use a bi-monthly update to inform people interested in lifting us in prayer. We would like to see that increase from 60 to 100 people or families. If interested, email David at [email protected] 2. Give- Although our roles are supported financially, we have incurred additional costs in the US for COVID-19 related testing and other travel. In addition, our salary will receive a significant reduction this year because of COVID-19. We are looking for 40 people to give an average of $50 monthly to our ministry. This need will be active until August 31 and we are asking for people to give for 6 months ($300) or 12 months ($600). This is tax-deductible. If needed, we would update our need in February. In addition, we will donate the first 10% to the churches Kenyan COVID-19 relief since there are many in need today. 3. Share- If you know people who might be interested in our story, please share a link to this need with them. We would love to connect with them through the prayer update. In addition, we would love to partner with churches to come and serve on a trip with us once travel and COVID-19 restrictions are eased. We appreciate each of you! Our hope is in God and His call for us in this ministry. If you have questions, feel free to contact us at the above email. For His Kingdom, David and Beth
