WHAT WENT ON
SEPTEMBER HAPPENINGS
The corporate gathering if he Church is important and necessary; however it cannot meet all the needs of disciples of Christ. After a year of stopping house church and attending only Sunday worship services and family we ministered to for over a year asked to start house church back up again. They said, and I quote, “ I heard a voice tell me I was back sliding. I knew we needed to get back with you guys and start house church back up again.” We have been meeting on Friday evenings ever since.
Early in the month we were blessed to join The Donation House is serving at Hogar Anderes De Ninos, an orphanage for boys. We played games and cooked dinner for the staff and children there. One boy attached to Joh and would not let go, he even wanted him to skate board, that did not happen. Blake and Bridger loved playing with the kids as did the kids love playing with them. Dallas was not able to be with us that evening due to other arrangements she had. Jennifer of course was in her glory as she loves working with children. She was able to talk with the director and we have been welcomed back for future ministry opportunities.
John has been meeting every Monday or Tuesday morning counseling and having a Bible study with a brother we have met and have become good friends with.
Hurricane Irma hit the Caribbean islands on September 6th. We prepared for the worst, moving everything that was outside, inside. We thank God that the island of Puerto Rico was spared, however our neighboring islands were not as fortunate. Our family took action ASAP to aid in relief. We joined up with Puerto Del Rey Marina collecting and loading supplies for St. Thomas and other neighboring islands the day after Irma passed. We then worked for two days at the San Juan airport. We were there for support and we brought our sound system and played movies for the children. Those we were helping were refugees from other islands.
Blake and Dallas had their first game on the 15th.
Dallas is excited for her cheer season this year. One of her good friends has joined the team and really adds to the enthusiasm.
Blake is starting in a new position this year as linebacker. He is excited to try out this new position. It will be a much more intense season for sure.
Boy Scout has started back up for Bridger and he is already working towards new badges.
