UPDATE: Shane experienced his COMPLETE healing in the early morning hours of Father's Day, June 21st.
Although we mourn the loss of a husband, father, brother, mentor and pastor we do not mourn for long.
1 Corinthians 2:9, KJV: "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."
Thank you for your gift toward letting this family know they are surrounded during this hard time by much love. Please take a moment to share how you know Shane or a favorite memory on the page as it will surely bless his family.
ORIGINAL POST:
Pastor Shane Lewis has been the senior pastor at Somerville Baptist Church in Somerville, AL, since 2004. God has greatly blessed the work in Somerville, and the theme of the ministry there has become a desire to see spread hope in God and to see something happen in the community and world that "Only God" can do.
In November of 2017, Pastor Lewis was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a very aggressive form of blood cancer. After two rounds of chemotherapy, the disease was in remission, and the maintenance phase of treatment began, which included many harsh rounds of treatment.
About a year and a half later, the cancer came back and required stronger treatment than before, requiring Pastor Lewis to move from his home in Somerville, AL, to Nashville, TN, temporarily to undergo a bone marrow transplant, a very dangerous procedure that aims to cure blood and bone cancers. His bone marrow transplant took place in January of this year, and yet another relapse occurred in April.
Pastor Lewis is undergoing treatment of different types and some chemotherapy regimens that the doctors are encouraged about, but the battle has been very long and tiresome to him and his family.
Above all, however, the Lord has been faithful and good in seeing each of the family's needs supplied in a multitude of different ways through their wonderful home church and dear friends around the globe. The goal the Lewis family has during this time is simply to see the Lord's name glorified and His Gospel preached through their journey. This, of course, is the crowning purpose of the Christian's life here on earth.
