I was called to the ministry in October 1986 in my country of origin, Santo Domingo, RD, where I served as pastor of the Baptist Church of Jesus Christ.
In 1989, the idea of founding a church under the name of Iglesia Bautista El Fundamento (Baptist Church the Foundation) was born in my heart. The name is based on 1Co 3:11, "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ."
Upon reaching PR in 2009 the desire to found a church under this name was intensified. It is not until May 2017, after praying with this purpose in mind, that I went to Catano, along with my wife Rosa Hernández, where my longing to work with this community grew.
We officially started our services on September 17, 2017, three days before Hurricane Maria struck. It is a new church so we do not have the necessary economic resources to cover the costs of establishing a new church. We are currently renting a space for our weekly service.
We are currently in need of two air conditioning units to cool off the building during service times. The remodeling done to the building makes it hard for airflow through the building, and it is very hot in Catano during most of the year.
It is our heart's desire to fulfill God's mandate to expand his kingdom here on earth.
